Ladies Day is full of colour, light and stylish fashion – and this year’s festivities have proved no different as glamorous racegoers returned to Aintree racecourse, after taking a two-year hiatus due to Covid.
This year’s event marks a return to pre-pandemic years, with revellers due to arrive at the course in their droves to have a flutter on the horses.
It’s set to be high octane glamour all the way today, as attendees stepped out in all their finery for Ladies Day – when the coveted style award is presented to the best-dressed female.
While the festival is all about horse racing, many racegoers appeared more than happy to flaunt their stuff as they compete to win the £5,000 prize for best dressed.
Bookmakers are currently gearing up for a record-breaking weekend, with the Grand National, The Masters, and Manchester City v Liverpool all colliding.

The coveted prize of best dressed will see one glamorous lady taking home a £500 Never Fully Dressed or £300 House of Cavani voucher, as well as £5,000 cash prize and a spa break away.
Meanwhile they will also receive £1,000 donation to their chosen charity, as well as a box of chocolate and a bottle of champagne to celebrate.
While Aintree may not have the royal touch Ascot does, it certainly holds its own in the fashion stakes when it comes to flashing the flesh.
As well as killer heels, thigh-skimming dresses and plunging necklines, the event is famous for its display of flamboyant headgear.

Around 150,000 people are expected to attend the three-day festival, making it one of the largest of its kind in the world, with more than £25 million expected to be spent on bets.
And the revelry doesn’t stop there: previously the event, which is now in its 183rd year, has seen attendees down a staggering 20,000 bubbly to get into the party spirit.
Away from the track, a further 500 million people in more than 140 countries are expected to tune in to watch the action.
While the biggest competition, the 30-jump handicap steeplechase, takes place on Saturday, there are plenty of elite races across the three-days for equestrian enthusiasts to get excited about.
While many of the glamorous attendees donned colourful ensembles for the big day out, others opted for a more neutral outfit with pops of colour

Ladbrokes bookmaker have been knocked over with bets on Snow Leopardess making Grand National history tomorrow by becoming the first mum to win the race in living memory.
The gamble on the grey mare has intensified in the last 24 hours and she is now clear favourite for the world’s most famous race at odds of 7/1.
At one point, Charlie Longsdon’s mare was as big as 20/1 for the race, but her popularity knows no bounds.
If she wins, Ladbrokes believe Snow Leopardess will be a worse result than last year when Rachael Blackmore made history in becoming the first female jockey to win the race on Minella Times.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: ‘Snow Leopardess’ popularity knows no bounds and as the Grand National edges closer, the gamble intensifies.

While the festival is all about horse racing, many racegoers appeared more than happy to flaunt their stuff as they compete to win the £5,000 prize for best dressed
‘The whole country seems to have gotten behind the new mum and with the money we are seeing thus far, we reckon she will be more popular than Rachael Blackmore was last year. If she does oblige, we are starring down the barrel at the costliest Grand National winner ever.’
It comes as bookies gear up for a record-breaking weekend with bets on the Grand National alone expected to top £150million.
As well as the flagship horse race at Aintree, other big events include golf superstar Tiger Woods’s return in the Masters in the US, and Manchester City’s crunch game against Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
Bookies had a bumper few days with the Cheltenham Festival last month, but are said to be having ‘sleepless nights’ over the prospect of last year’s National winner Rachael Blackmore successfully defending her title.
Her feat, as the first woman to win the race, cost the industry a fortune as thousands of small-time punters had a flutter.
Around half of people in the UK and Ireland place bets on the Grand National, with the average stake last year around £2.50.
The Randox Grand National 2022, which is held at Aintree racecourse, runs from April 7 to April 9.
