Ladbrokes bookmaker have been knocked over with bets on Snow Leopardess making Grand National history tomorrow by becoming the first mum to win the race in living memory.

The gamble on the grey mare has intensified in the last 24 hours and she is now clear favourite for the world’s most famous race at odds of 7/1.

At one point, Charlie Longsdon’s mare was as big as 20/1 for the race, but her popularity knows no bounds.

If she wins, Ladbrokes believe Snow Leopardess will be a worse result than last year when Rachael Blackmore made history in becoming the first female jockey to win the race on Minella Times.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: ‘Snow Leopardess’ popularity knows no bounds and as the Grand National edges closer, the gamble intensifies.

‘The whole country seems to have gotten behind the new mum and with the money we are seeing thus far, we reckon she will be more popular than Rachael Blackmore was last year. If she does oblige, we are starring down the barrel at the costliest Grand National winner ever.’

It comes as bookies gear up for a record-breaking weekend with bets on the Grand National alone expected to top £150million.
