A huge gas explosion destroyed a house in a Lincolnshire village as the owner escapes with minor injuries.

Pictures show the front of the property totally ripped apart with a collapsed roof, with social media users describing it as looking ‘like a war zone’.    

Somehow the occupants managed to escape the property unhurt and a man is reported to have minor injuries and is a little shaken.

Emergency services were called to the property in Bourne, South Lincolnshire, at 9.13am today. 

Fire and gas services remained at the scene and roads in the area have been closed. 

Residents were woken by the the blast and said the noise of the explosion was so loud that it could be heard several miles away. 

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: ‘The scene has been assessed and it has been deemed that there is no need to evacuate any other houses.

‘This was reported to us at 9.13 am. Incident 95 refers.’  

Users took to social media after a picture of the ruined building was posted on Lincolnshire Police Motorcycles’ Twitter.

One wrote: ‘Wow that’s awful to see.’

Another said: ‘Like something out a warzone, hope everyone is safe.’
