2021 Screen Actors Guild Awards: Red carpet arrivals

Celebrities did not let the absence of an official red carpet stop them from dressing to impress from home for the 2021 Screen Actors Guild Awards. 

Nicole Kidman, Kaley Cuoco, and Kerry Washington were among the many stars glamming it up for the ritzy Hollywood event on Sunday afternoon.

Nicole and Kaley looked spring ready in their floral patterned looks while Kerry donned a twenties inspired patterned Etro gown with a matching beaded cap.  

Nicole Kidman dazzled in a spring ready gown by Giorgio Armani, featuring embroidered floral detailing all over; the long-sleeved gown featured sheer fabric over a nude undergarment, with a defined waistline; the high-neck, floor-length frock had blue, black, and white embroidered flowers all over.

The movie star, 53, posed in front of a white background set up outside in a garden, as well as posing by the greenery as well. 

Kaley shared a slew of snaps of her look to her Instagram account, where posed as if she were on the red carpet by her pool.

The Flight Attendant actress made a bang in a hot pink gown with elaborate off-the-shoulder sleeves and a decorate flower at the bust. 

The Big Bang Theory star was a sight to behold with her blonde hair slicked back into a high bun and dazzling silver earrings accessorizing the look.

Kaley is up for two awards this evening for her role in the dramedy series The Flight Attendant, which sees her play a flight attendant who awakens next to a dead body.

Meanwhile, Kerry, 44, oozed 1920s elegance in a beaded navy blue dress and matching cap – both from Etro. 

Kerry daringly wore her embellished outfit in the pool as she gazed towards the camera with a sultry expression on her face.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards will celebrate the best of their craft with a pre-taped ceremony airing on Sunday, April 4th 2021. 

Facing the unique challenges of a pandemic-era awards show, SAG-AFTRA’s awards committee decided against a Zoom-heavy affair in lieu of pre-produced pieces and top-secret acceptance speeches shot ahead of time.

Instead of entertaining an audience, the 2021 SAGs will honor nominees with a series of docu-series style segments in a nod to their traditional ‘I Am An Actor’ segments which usually open the show.

Chic: Lily Collins donned a dress by Georges Hobeika with jewelry by Cartier, Casadei heels and Lancome makeup

Wow factor: The Incredible looking gown featured beaded elements, as well as statement crystal elements along the waistline

In bloom: Jessica Madsen donned a floral gown with sheer elements, adding rosy colored lip gloss

So beautiful: Cynthia Erivo donned a cream hued Alexander McQueen gown featuring a fitted bustier top and a voluminous skirt

Style: She paired the look with boots, adding Forevermark jewelry

Breathtaking: She rocked pink lipstick with blonde hair to round out her glamorous look

Blush: Sarah Levy donned a pale pink sleek strapless gown with statement diamond and ruby  earrings

SAG Awards planners and producers were challenged to keep COVID-safe while also setting the show apart from other awards ceremonies, many of which have tried to recreate the energy of a live show with hybrid remote/in-person events that still ended up earning lackluster TV ratings.

‘Very early on, we were really struggling with what the show would look like and we went through, I don’t know how many, different iterations and concepts,’ said Jon Brockett, a longtime producer of the ceremony and the guild’s national director of programming.

‘It was the network that really pushed us to think out of the box this year,’ Brockett said. 

‘What we came up with, and the network ended up loving, was this reimagining of the ‘I Am an Actor’ stories which typically opened our show.’

Glamorous: Merle Dandridge chose a jumpsuit that included a sparkling plunging top with a large blue bow along her waistline

Flawless: Viola Davis stood out in her lime green gown, which had white stripes along the sides

Chic: Cate Blanchett chose a white colored shirt and a black blazer
