The 18-year-old’s disappearance sparked huge concern, even leading to the launch of a social media page dedicated to locating her.

Thames Valley Police have now revealed the teenager has been found ‘safe and well’ in Basingstoke, Hampshire, this afternoon.

A 21-year-old man from Reading, has also been arrested in Basingstoke by officers from Hampshire Constabulary on suspicion of battery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, breach of police bail, false imprisonment and making threats to kill.

Local Policing Area Commander for Windsor and Maidenhead, Superintendent Michael Greenwood, said: ‘I am delighted to be able to confirm that we have located Marnie safe and well and returned her home to her family, who were naturally extremely concerned for her.

‘This outcome is the result of fantastic work from officers and staff from both Thames Valley Police and our colleagues in Hampshire, when, working on information received from some of the hundreds of calls since Marnie was reported missing, we have managed to locate her.’

Thames Valley Police called their investigation ‘very significant’ and Mr Greenwood went on to thank ‘the thousands’ of members of the public who shared their appeal to find the missing teen.

He added: ‘I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the many thousands of members of the public who shared our appeal to locate her and extend this also to the local and national media.

‘It cannot be underestimated how important the information received was in locating Marnie safe and well.’

‘I am very proud of all of our officers and staff and colleagues in Hampshire for their work, and also all of the members of ourlocal community who shared appeals and called us with the information which has helped us bring Marnie home.’

It comes as separate video published earlier today showed Marnie dancing and smiling with a friend in Atik.

One witness apparently told police that they believe Marnie was arguing with a man outside the club on the night she disappeared.

Nightclub bosses meanwhile said earlier today that they were helping detectives with their investigation into the teenager’s whereabouts and have shared CCTV.

A new video emerged earlier today showing Marnie Clayton partying in a nightclub just hours before her disappearance

The footage shows the 18-year-old smiling, laughing and dancing with female friends in Atik nightclub in Windsor, Berkshire. The teenager had last been seen leaving the nightclub at around 2am on Sunday (January 16)

In the new video, one man could be heard saying: ‘Have you seen the update they’ve put on the news?’

The man though to be with Marnie says: ‘Nah,’ at which point the girl appears briefly in the video.

Another man replies: ‘Bro you are on BBC News, bro.

He then replies: ‘That ain’t me bro,’ before saying something illegible.

The first man replies: ‘You might as well go on the run with her fam.’

Another adds: ‘This guy is not serious, like yeah she’s come on live she’s not serious man. I don’t know what live has come to man.’

The student, named Victoria, says she saw the missing persons case showed up on her Facebook after going ‘worldwide’.

In a post on the page, she said: ‘My name is Victoria and I’m a criminology student from Australia.

‘This case has gone worldwide, it showed up on my Facebook, so I decided to make an Instagram account to help locate Marnie.

‘One the anonymous people to contact me via Instagram has urged me to call the Thames Valley Police department.

‘I’ve contacted them, they’ve got my number, I’ve given them every evidence I have. I’ve given them all my details.

‘Because we are 15 hour time difference, they have urged people to call them with the reference, only because it’s hard for me and them with a 15 hour time difference to communicate.
