The Dallas car crash that claimed the life of Arizona Cardinals cornerback Jeff Gladney also killed his 26 year-old girlfriend, it was revealed Tuesday.

Andrea Mercedes Palacios’ family has confirmed she was the woman who died alongside Gladney, 25, following Monday morning’s collision in Dallas.

Palacios shared a photo on her Instagram of herself cuddling up to Gladney during a recent holiday in Miami, with the NFL star’s distinctive ‘Interstate 30’ tattoo clearly visible on his left arm.

She and Gladney – who is survived by a two-year-old son from a previous relationship – were in a white Mercedes SUV which clipped another car from behind around 2:30am Monday morning in Dallas, according to police. The SUV then smashed into a pillar, killing both Gladney and Palacios. The two unidentified passengers in the other car did not suffer any major injury, according to police.

It remains unclear whether it was Gladney or Palacios driving the Mercedes SUV. Police believe speed may have been a factor in the crash, and no information has been given about whether the driver may have been under the influence.

A video shared online by grieving family members shows Palacios riding in a car next to Gladney, who is driving, although it is unclear if it was shot on the evening of their deaths.

‘It’s just two great souls gone,’ Palacios’s brother, John Paul Figueroa, told Dallas’ NBC affiliate. ‘She was just a loving, selfless person.’
