Rebel Wilson has come out as gay at the age of 42, while introducing the world to her new girlfriend on Thursday.

The Pitch Perfect star took to Instagram to share the news about her new relationship, posting a sweet snap of herself posing with her girlfriend, designer Romana Agruma, in which both women are seen grinning from ear to ear.

In her caption, Wilson shared her joy over her new relationship, joking that she had spent years ‘searching for a Disney Prince’ only to discover that what she ‘really needed was a Disney Princess’.

‘I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince… but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess,’ she wrote, adding heart and rainbow emojis and the hashtag, ‘#loveislove’.

Wilson, who has recently been flaunting her slimmed-down, toned-up figure after losing more than 75lbs, showed off her winning smile in the sweet photo, which shows her resting her hand on Ramona’s arm, while her girlfriend snapped the selfie.

Following her announcement, a friend of the actress told People, ‘Rebel’s in an amazing place and I’ve never seen her happier.’

Although Thursday marked Wilson and Agruma’s official debut as a couple, the pair have actually been spotted together on several occasions in the past few months – even making a joint red carpet appearance at the Vanity Fair Oscars party back in March.

The duo happily posed together for the cameras, with both women putting on an incredibly glamorous display in glitzy gowns, with Wilson opting for a shimmering silver number, while Agruma dazzled in glittery blue.

They were also spotted together in February on Super Bowl Sunday, and Agruma subsequently joined Wilson for her birthday trip to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico in early March.

The duo then enjoyed another getaway in April, this time to Park City, Utah, where they were seen attending another red carpet event, before hitting the slopes for some skiing.

Other than her coming out post, Wilson hasn’t shared any other details about her girlfriend, who is an LA-based fashion designer and the owner of the sustainable fashion brand Lemon Ve Limon.

The actress did reveal last month that she was dating someone, although she kept their identity under wraps, telling People that she had been set up with her partner – thought to be Agruma – ‘through a friend’, before spending weeks ‘getting to know each other’ on the phone.

‘We spoke on the phone for weeks before meeting,’ Wilson revealed at the time. ‘And that was a really good way to get to know each other. It was a bit old-school in that sense — very romantic.’

She also shared how ‘the process of finding more self-worth’ had ‘elevated’ her standards in terms of what she was looking for in a partner, describing her romance with her new girlfriend as ‘equal’ and ‘healthy’.

As well as their under-the-radar public appearances together, Agruma has also been a fixture on Wilson’s Instagram in recent months, though she wasn’t presented as anything other than a friend.

Rebel’s most recent confirmed partner was Jacob Busch, of the Anheuser-Busch brewing company family.

She and the heir began dating shortly before the coronavirus pandemic began, and they made their red carpet debut in Monaco, but the relationship only lasted four months and ended around February 2021.

Earlier this year, the comic star had been rumored to be dating the Australian tennis player Matt Reid, though that relationship was never confirmed.

Back in November, Rebel told People that she was having a ‘Hot Girl Summer,’ after the song by Megan Thee Stallion, adding that she was ‘currently single and looking for the right person.’

‘From every relationship, you learn stuff all about yourself and what you’re looking for,’ she said in a bit of foreshadowing. ‘I haven’t quite met my match just yet, but here’s hoping.’

In her May cover story for the publication, the actress spoke about how she wasn’t as concerned with romance in her first couple decades.

‘It’s not an exaggeration to say no one was really interested in dating me, especially in my 20s,’ she said. ‘I had a snaggle tooth. I was a catch if people really got to know me, but there was nobody really interested.

‘But in a way that allowed me to not only have this amazing career and come up out of Australia, out of nowhere and get two degrees and then come to America and crush it. Would I have been able to do that if I had a serious relationship? Probably in my love life I was meant to be a late bloomer anyways,’ she said.

That same month, she shared on the U Up podcast that she was ‘now happily in a relationship’ thanks to being set up by a friend, though she didn’t share more details.

Late last year, Rebel revealed that her ‘Year of Health’ was partly spurred on because she was ‘thinking about fertility.’

‘knew I was going to have a bit more time,’ she said of her weight-loss efforts in an Instagram Live session from December 2021. ‘I was also freezing my eggs because — as all good, career women out there should note — that if that’s something that interests you, it’s a pretty good time to do it.’

‘I was thinking about fertility and having good quality eggs in the bank, so I was like, “OK, I’m going to do this. I’m going to get healthy,”‘ she continued. ‘And how I started is [that] I did go to a professional place to do a detox.’

After she was forced to cut down on her sugar intake and got used to eating healthier foods, the Cats actress decided to take the plunge and focus on eating better and losing weight, which could also help make her fertility journey less bumpy.

‘The goal was never to be skinny,’ she added, and she previously explained that she had habit of emotional overeating.

New confidence: ‘From every relationship, you learn stuff all about yourself and what you’re looking for,’ she told People, in a bit of foreshadowing. ‘I haven’t quite met my match just yet, but here’s hoping’; seen in April in Sydney

But in May of last year, Rebel hinted that there had been complications on her fertility journey.

‘I got some bad news today and didn’t have anyone to share it with…but I guess I gotta tell someone,’ she wrote in a cryptic post that included a somber photo of herself walking along a rocky shore at dusk.

‘To all the women out there struggling with fertility, I feel ya,’ she added, though she didn’t specify what the issue was.

‘The universe works in mysterious ways and sometimes it all doesn’t make sense…but I hope there’s light about to shine through all the dark clouds.’

The Jojo Rabbit actress has previously shared that she suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome, which can lead to weight gain and is associated with fertility issues.

Setbacks? But in May of last year, Rebel hinted that there had been complications on her fertility journey. ‘I got some bad news today and didn’t have anyone to share it with…but I guess I gotta tell someone,’ she wrote on Instagram
